On Sunday, January 15, from 0900-1500 Cowlitz County Search and Rescue, Kelso, WA, will have a visual tracking and training class open to search and rescue volunteers with state DEM cards. This is an opportunity to either learn about how to follow someone’s footprints or to advance your skills doing so. This is part of a series of trainings designed toward certification.

Cowlitz County Search & Rescue just finished a regional six-hour Joel Hardin Professional Tracking Services tracking training. It was attended by members of CCSAR, Polk County SAR, Yamhill County SAR, Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit, Pacific Crest Search Dogs, Search Dogs Northwest, Evergreen Search Dogs, Snohomish County Search and Rescue and Olympic Mountain Rescue. Joel Hardin, Kathy Decker and Sharon Ward instructed this class. It was great to have so many units working together to learn and advance their knowledge in this valuable SAR skill.

On Sunday, October 23 from 0900-1500 Cowlitz County Search and Rescue will have a visual tracking and training class open to search and rescue volunteers. This is an opportunity to either learn about how to follow someone’s footprints or to sharpen your skills at doing so.

We will have several Joel Hardin Professional Tracking Services master trackers present, including Joel Hardin, Kathleen Decker, Jo Peterson, Steve Reddington and Sharon Ward, along with some other trackers from around the country.

JHPTS: VTATI just completed a fantastic 24-hour class sponsored by Idaho Mountain Search and Rescue Unit in Cascade, Idaho. Eight candidates for Basic Tracker were examined and all were granted certification. One Basic Tracker was reinstated and one Apprentice upgrade candidate was examined and awarded certification. Congratulations to IMSARU for all of their hard work training professional trackers for public service.
