Annie Pillers had her entry into the tracking world when she met and married Marvin Pillers. Since 1990, when she moved to Palouse, Washington as a newlywed, she stepped right into the role of a search and rescue volunteer with Palouse-Clearwater SAR in Latah County, Idaho. Her first tracking class in the early 1990’s was at Snoqualmie Pass, WA through Joel Hardin’s tracking program with Universal Training Services. Since then she has remained an active proponent of professional tracking, serving as the secretary-treasurer for the Idaho State Trackers Association (North Idaho Trackers) for the last 17 years, sponsoring in-house and JHPTS tracking classes regionally. Annie has been a journeyman tracker with JHPTS since September of 2004. She is part of the JHPTS assistant instructor cadre, and particularly enjoys working step-by-step with novice students. In 2009, she took on the role of Administrative Assistant for JHPTS.
In Annie’s professional life, she is the town clerk for the Town of Garfield, the neighboring town to where she lives. In addition to Search and Rescue, her other volunteer activities find her busy as an EMT with Palouse EMS Unit and the Garfield-Farmington Ambulance Squad, a hospice volunteer with Family Home Care and Hospice, and an AHA First Aid/CPR Instructor. She is also an on-call Deputy Coroner for Whitman County.
