Managing Trackers and Tracking Operations

Level 4—Master Tracker certification requires extensive knowledge and experience with tracking and how it is used in different rescue, law enforcement and emergency response situations. This is an intensive training course offering the highest level of tracking certification.

Master Tracker can direct multiple tracking teams in mission-critical applications. Requires Level 3-Journeyman Tracker certification and considerable tracking experience to participate successfully.

· Responds to missions as an experienced and seasoned master tracker able to work in all terrains and conditions.

· Evaluates the appropriate tactical response for a tracking mission.

· Ability to conduct secondary interviews and gain useful mission information.

· Locate PLS and LKP and identify the footprint of the missing subject.

· Interpret evidence at PLS and sort out conflicting statements or witnesses based on footfall evidence.

· Coordinate with officials to organize, initiate and manage the deployment of multiple tracking teams.

· Utilize sign cutters in primary, secondary and perimeter cut areas as needed.

· Provide ongoing operational critiques and make personnel changes to keep effective tracking teams in the field and advancing prime sign.

· Coordinate with SAR managers to utilize tracking resources to their fullest capabilities.

· Resolve any tracking problems or dilemmas for less-experienced trackers during the mission.

· Identify and record sign as it changes with the physical and mental condition of the subject.

· Ability to conduct local training classes to provide knowledge to new students.
